What to Expect
Develop your movement. Expand your play. Deepen your connection.
Explore primal locomotion, groundwork, grooves, and improvisational skill-building. We focus on adaptable, functional movement — helping you build coordination, strength, and fluidity in a way that reconnects you to your natural body.
❋ Develop Your Movement
Playful, structured movement explorations across solo, partner, and group games. Inspired by martial improvisation, these practices build timing, responsiveness, creativity, trust, resilience, and a whole lot of fun.
❋ Expand Your Play
Relational movement practices that sharpen listening, presence, and embodied communication through shared rhythm and touch.
❋ Deepen Your Connection
Through contact improvisation and guided movement exploration, you’ll explore weight-sharing, momentum, and spontaneous expression. These sessions invite creativity, emotional range, and the joy of moving without choreography.
❋ Improvisational Dance
Movement on natural terrain, fresh air, shared meals, and time in community — allowing nature to shape the experience alongside us.
❋ Practice Outside
❋ Care & Integration
Joint health, rehab, and prehab techniques, recovery practices, and sauna. Leaving you feeling nourished, not depleted.

What’s this about?
Durango Movement Camp is an immersive movement retreat designed to catalyze your sense of embodiment.
Modern life is full of noise, speed, and distraction. Many of us have developed habits that leave us disconnected from our bodies and from one another. When we lose contact with our bodies, it becomes harder to sense clearly, be present, and engage meaningfully with the world around us.
This retreat is an intentional shift in the opposite direction.
We’re creating a weekend designed for you to feel fully alive in your body — through guided movement practices, restorative self-care, delicious shared meals, connection to the natural world, and meaningful time together in community. It’s a return to the ways we were designed to move, play, and relate to each other and our environment.
Spending a weekend immersed in this work is meaningful in itself. But the deeper value lies in how the experience carries forward into your daily life. Our intention is that you leave with practical tools, embodied awareness, and a renewed sense of agency that continues well beyond the retreat.
Our schedule is designed with intention—structured enough to hold the depth, spacious enough to invite spontaneity

Meet Your Faciliators
Asa helps people rediscover freedom and aliveness by teaching deceptively simple ways to let the body lead. Drawing upon acrobatics, dance, bodywork, vipassana, and various therapeutic modalities Asa brings a refreshing combination of levity and depth to the processes of learning and healing. With over a decade of experience in mind.body healing, he helps people find grace through the pains of life and occasionally gets to witness moments of transformation that defy description.
Asa Dean
Sam is a movement practitioner, wilderness guide, and community builder with over six years of professional facilitation experience. A devoted game-giver and proponent of embodied living, Sam creates immersive containers that weave together contact improvisation, martial arts, and somatic practices. His playfighting work invites people into honest movement, deep listening, and the kind of connection that sneaks up on you—in the middle of a tumble, a shared breath, or a perfectly timed monkey noise.

As an embodiment researcher, Lucy sees the body as a wild landscape - rich with intelligence, ecology, and emotion. She explores this through contact improvisation, wilderness work, somatic connection, and music-making. Guided by a passion for movement, Lucy has danced on floors around the world, bringing home a synthesis of classical contact improvisation teachings and a deep curiosity for what naturally emerges when we enter a space of allowance.

Don’t forget
That’s right! We’re opening Durango Movement Camp to children because, honestly, kids often embody play and presence more naturally than we do. Please ensure your child is reasonably self-directed and able to participate in group spaces without requiring constant individual supervision.
By bringing a child, you acknowledge that you are responsible for their safety, well-being, and any attention they may require so as not to disrupt the group experience.
